The United States Department of Labor recently adopted new rules related to the Davis Bacon Act that will directly impact survey crews working on federally funded projects. Under the Act, contractors and subcontractors working on federally funded construction projects are required to pay their laborers and mechanics at least the prevailing wage rates for the corresponding localities. IPLSA, with the assistance of labor attorney Andy Martone, has compiled a series of articles, fact sheets, and webinars to help survey firms navigate this new requirement.
Illinois Prevailing Wage
For nearly a decade now, the Illinois Professional Land Surveyors has been a partner in a coalition of design professionals fighting prevailing wage requirements on state projects. The recent changes in the Davis-Bacon Act will impact this endeavor as well, and we will provide the latest information and resources as they become available.
The U.S. Department of Labor provides a wage determination calculator through sam.gov. Here you can either enter the wage determination number or search to identify the determination number and the corresponding county or area in which you are working.
