Waterways - 615 ILCS

615 ILCS 5/6 Through 5/29 A
These sections are from the “Rivers, Lakes and Streets Act.” These sections establish legal authority for the Department of natural Resources to supervise every body of water within the state including structures in the water, taking materials from the bed of public water, construction of harbors or moving facilities, plains or flood plains, acquiring and, navigability and waters investigation and dam inspections.

615 ILCS 10/1 Through 10/7.16
These sections are from the “Illinois Waterway Act.” These sections establish legal authority for property acquisition, eminent domain, entry upon lands, repair and replacement of public bridges, and to hire personnel to construction of the Illinois waterway.

615 ILCS 15/1 Through 15/7.5
These sections are from the “Flood Control Act of 1945.” These sections establish legal authority for Department of Natural Resources to survey, study, manage, construct and control all works for the control of floods. This includes construction improvements, co-operation with other agencies, surveying and making reports, utilizing surplus waters and acquisitions of property.

These sections are from various acts under chapter 615 – waterways. These acts include the Illinois and Michigan Canal Management Act, Illinois and Michigan Canal Protection Act, and the Illinois and Michigan Canal Land Use Act.
615 ILCS 30/10 - 40/2

615 ILCS 45/1 Through 45/11
These sections are from the “Illinois and Michigan Canal Development Act.” These sections provide legal authority for the redevelopment of the Illinois and Michigan Canal which the declared abandoned. The Department of Conservation in cooperation with other agencies, shall prepared a master plan for redevelopment and the Department may sell that property through public auction and private sales, grant utility easements, deposit funds from sales in the state park fund, convey property to state, federal and local agencies, retain property necessary for the master plan and provide such drainage, flood control and other improvements as are in the public interest.

615 ILCS 50/2, 50/6, 50/11, 55/1, 65/5 & 75/1
These sections are from various acts under chapter 615 – waterways. These acts include the the Level of Lake Michigan Act, Lake Calumet Harbor Act and the Kaskaskia River Waterbed and Basin Act.
